BoxBinAlert uses a two-unit wireless system. The TX Sensor goes outside at the thing you want to monitor. The RX Receiver goes inside your home connected to WiFi. They communicate via long-range LoRa radio with no internet connection or cloud server required between them.
The TX Sensor attaches to whatever you want to monitor. A mailbox, package bin, gate, cabinet, or any location where an event needs to be detected.
When triggered, it immediately fires a LoRa radio signal. That signal travels up to 2 miles through walls, fences, and trees to reach the RX Receiver inside your home.
Between triggers, the TX drops into deep sleep and draws only microamps of power. That is how it runs for months without a charge.
The RX Receiver lives inside your home, plugged into the wall via USB-C. During initial setup, you connect it to your home WiFi using a simple browser on your phone. Takes about 2 minutes.
Once configured, you never touch it again. When the RX receives a TX signal, it fires an email alert to your address in under 10 seconds.
Always on. Because it runs on wall power, with the battery backup, always charged, the RX receiver never sleeps and never misses a signal. Every event gets captured, every time.
No tools, no wiring, no electrician. This is the complete installation process.
Start here, before touching the TX. Mount the RX Receiver on an interior wall near a window, about 4 to 5 feet off the floor. Plug it into wall power via the included USB-C cable. The RX needs to be powered and on your network before any TX sensor will work.
With the RX lid removed, locate the button on the Right side of the USB plug, this is the USER button. Press/hold for 5 Seconds to enter Wifi/Admin mode. When the LED light is Solid/On, Locate the RX WiFi on your phone, open WiFi settings and connect to the BoxBinAlert RX WiFi. A browser page appears automatically, or go to (http://192.168.4.1). Select your home WiFi name, password, and then add your email address. Takes about 2 minutes. The RX is now live on your network.
For the Photo/Mailbox sensor: Before you mount the TX unit under the mailbox or on the post, connect to battery power and trigger sensor. LED will blink on TX, then on RX. Now mount the TX unit. The photo sensor wire routes through a small hole drilled in the bottom of the mailbox. Insert the included plastic grommet in the hole first, run the sensor cable through, attach the sensor to the side 3" from the bottom, pointing up to the top of the lid. For water, temperature, soil, or CO2 sensors, simply place or stake the TX at the monitoring location.
Before finalizing any mounting, trigger the sensor manually. Open the mailbox lid, tip the tilt sensor, or activate whatever you installed. You should receive a test email within 10 seconds. Confirm it works before drilling any additional holes or securing anything permanently.
Each RX Receiver supports up to 8 TX Sensors. Pair additional TX sensors at anytime by holding the USER button on the RX for 10 seconds to enter pair mode. Now onthe TX unit, trigger the sensor, LED Flash, Auto-pair-Done. Photo, tilt, water, temperature, soil, and CO2 sensors all pair to the same receiver. Each one sends its own named alert so you always know which location triggered.
The system runs itself. Alerts arrive automatically. Every alert includes the current battery level so you always know the charge state before it becomes an issue. When a TX needs a charge, plug in via USB-C. No apps to update, no accounts to manage.
The TX platform supports multiple sensor types and one RX Receiver works with all of them. Start with one and expand as your needs grow.
This is the primary sensor for standard mailboxes and enclosed package compartments. It does not rely on physical contact with the lid, making it more reliable long-term. Works day and night using light-versus-dark contrast inside the box.
