RX Receiver Unit — the brain of your system. Plugs into USB power near your router.
TX Sensor Unit — goes inside your mailbox or trash bin. Battery powered, wireless.
USB-C Power Cable — for the RX receiver.
Mounting hardware — adhesive strip or screws for the sensor.
Plug in and enter setup mode
Place the RX Receiver inside your home, near a window or exterior wall facing your mailbox. The closer to the mailbox direction, the better the signal.
Plug the RX into a USB power adapter (any 5V phone charger works).
The red LED will blink once — the unit is booting.
If this is a new RX add-on, After about 3 seconds the LED will stay solid red — it's in Auto-Pair mode, waiting for your sensor. If you purchased a Kit/Package, TX and RX are already Paired. Skip this step, Click Next.
TX and RX find each other automatically
The first time you turn on the TX sensor near a fresh RX, they pair automatically — no buttons needed.
Plug in the battery clip on the TX sensor to activate it.
Hold the TX sensor within 10 feet of the RX receiver.
Wait up to 30 seconds. The RX LED will blink twice rapidly — that means it found the sensor!
The LED then goes OFF — pairing complete. You're in normal operating mode.
Access the RX setup page from your phone
Press and hold the button on the RX receiver for 5 seconds. The LED turns solid red — you're in Admin Mode.
On your phone or laptop, go to WiFi Settings and look for this network:
Connect to BoxBinAlert and open your browser.
Navigate to: 192.168.4.1
The BoxBinAlert Dashboard will load — no login required on first access.
Connect to your home network and set up notifications
The dashboard will automatically scan for nearby networks. Select yours from the dropdown, type your password, and tap Save WiFi.
Enter your email address — you'll get an email every time mail arrives.
Enter your phone number for SMS alerts. Include country code: +15551234567
Tap Save Contacts.
Give it a friendly name like "Front Mailbox" so you can tell units apart if you have more than one. Tap Save Name.
After saving WiFi, tap Test Connection. You should see your IP address and signal strength. If it fails, double-check your password and make sure you're on 2.4 GHz.
Optional but recommended
By default, your dashboard has no login — anyone connected to BoxBinAlert WiFi can access it. If you'd like to add a password:
Scroll to the Change Dashboard Password section.
Enter a new password (minimum 6 characters) and confirm it.
Tap Update Password. Next time you open the dashboard, your browser will ask for:
Username: admin Password: your new password
Mount the sensor and exit admin mode
In the dashboard, scroll to the bottom and tap Exit Admin & Restart. The RX will reboot and go live — LED will blink once and go off.
Alternatively, press the button on the RX once to exit.
Open your mailbox and decide where to mount the sensor — on the back wall or lid works best for most mailboxes.
For PHOTO sensors: position so the light window faces the mailbox opening. Mail will block the light beam when it drops in.
For TILT sensors: attach to the lid or flap so it tilts when opened.
Secure with the included adhesive strip or screws. Close the mailbox.
Drop something into your mailbox (or open the lid). Within about 30 seconds you should receive an email or text alert. 🎉
Press and hold the RX button for 3 seconds any time to re-enter Admin Mode. Connect to BoxBinAlert WiFi and visit 192.168.4.1 again.
